Hi, I’m Rhode!

I’m the creator of Secrets & Latitude | Travel Stories, and I’ve always believed there’s more to a destination than the beautiful pictures we see online.

Growing up Haitian, I heard all kinds of fascinating stories—ghost mermaids, folklore, legends, mysteries, and the kinds of stories that made you stop and wonder, Wait… did that really happen?

That curiosity stayed with me.

After coming to the United States, it grew into an even bigger interest in Caribbean history, culture, people, and the stories behind the places we visit.

Then I started traveling.

And that was pretty much it for me. I was hooked.

Of course I love the beaches, beautiful hotels, great food, excursions, and all the fun things that come with travel. But I also want to know:

That curiosity is what inspired Secrets & Latitude.

But there’s another side of travel I’m just as passionate about—figuring out how to actually make the trip happen.

I believe travel shouldn’t be reserved for people with unlimited money.

A great trip starts with understanding your options, planning ahead, creating a realistic budget, knowing where it makes sense to spend, and knowing where you can save.

I’m the traveler who wants to know:

• How much is this trip really going to cost?
• Is there a better hotel option?
• Do I really need a rental car?
• Which excursions are actually worth paying for?
• Where can I save without taking away from the experience?
• Can I still have an amazing trip without spending a fortune?

If you ask those questions too, you’re in the right place.

One of my biggest goals with Secrets & Latitude is to give travelers something I wish I had more of when I first started traveling:

More options. More guidance. Better planning help. And realistic ways to make the trip fit your budget.

Sometimes that might mean staying at a beautiful resort.

Sometimes it might mean choosing a more affordable hotel so you can spend your money on an experience you’ll remember forever.

There isn’t one right way to travel.

I want to help you figure out your way.

Through Secrets & Latitude, I’ll share places I’ve personally visited, the history and stories I discover, what I actually experienced while I was there, where to stay, what to do, how to get around, what things may cost, and ways to make the trip more affordable.

Because I don’t want you to just save a destination to a dream board.

I want to help you get there.
